Hello Sydney!

After an eventful journey we finally arrived in Sydney last night! It started with an accident on the M25 meaning that our lift to the airport had to be cancelled and we had to take an alternative route getting a train into London and then a tube to Heathrow. The flight was late taking off so we were on the first plane for about 13hours. On our approach to Hong Kong there were strong gusts of wind which made it extremely rough (worse than most of the rides at Alton Towers!) and the first landing had to be aborted just before we reached the runway. On the second approach we managed to land but not before several people around us started throwing up! On a positive note we manged to see the Tian Tan Buddha (Big Buddha) statue twice from the air which we spent a whole afternoon unsuccessfully trying to see in February. Due to a late landing we then had to rush through the terminal and managed to get to the gate just in time for our flight to Sydney. 9 hours later we made it to Sydney and were lucky to fly in with amazing views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House, which were lit up at night.

We spent our first day in Sydney at Circular Quay with sunny views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. We walked across the bridge, went to the Museum of Contemporary Art and relaxed at Darling Harbour. More exploring tomorrow…
